I'm happy to say that voting picked up a lot during round two, it looked like one picture was going to win, then votes came in for a different picture. Long story short, it was a close race, but the winner, by one vote was Pumpkin [link] by . Congrats to , and to our second place winner who put up one hell of a fight. I must say both of you had some great pictures. Speaking personally, I quite liked every entry we had, and I thank everyone who entered.

Firstly, my appologies if I've been slow getting things done recently, I've been rather sick, I think I'm mostly over it by now, but now, on to business.

The submission period has officially ended for the June contest (seeing as June is over) so it's time to begin voting (which lasts until the fifth). I'm happy to say that we've got quite a healthy competition with lots of different submissions. These are all voting eligible submissions for the June contest, just take a look through em all, pick your favorite, and send me a note with the title VOTE. In the body of the message simply put (title of submission you are voting for) by (artist who made submission). Voting is open to everyone, regardless of whether or not they are a member, and contest participants are free to vote too, you can even vote for yourself if you want to. Things are really getting going here at SPIRIT-Halloween, so, I just wanted to get into some normal news and what not, so, here goes.

First off, the theme for our monthly contest is Jack-O-Lantern. Everyone should feel free to interpret that as they will, be it a pumpkin with a face, a hideous monster with a jack-o-lantern for a head, an abstract interpretation of a jack-o-lantern, or any other idea you my have had that I just didn't think up. If you want to submit a picture for the contest just send me a note with a link to the picture and tell me what theme you want for next month so that I'll know if your picture wins.

I've been working hard since becoming administrator to get things back in order. I've notified all our old members that I'm going to get things going again, and I've changed the look of things a bit and worked on getting submissions going again. I haven't gotten any feedback yet, but, I'm hoping to get some soon. There is a very short list of people who are undoubtedly members, and a slightly larger list of people who are technically still members but who I will not add to the roster until they get in contact with me to tell me that they still wish to be a part of SPIRIT-Halloween. I'm also going to be working on bringing in new members, re-establishing old club affiliations, and setting up some new ones.

I briefly introduced myself in my last message, but, I thought that it would be interesting for some of you to introduce yourselves. I think that an important part of having a club is the human interactivity in the club, which is why I think this would be good. I'm not going to force anyone to introduce themselves, but, I think it would be a great new start for SPIRIT-Halloween.

Lastly, I do want to mention once again that we are having our first monthly contest, the theme is Jack-O-Lantern. Feel free to interpret that as you will, be it a pumpkin with a face, a hideous monster with a pumpkin for a head, or even your abstract interpretation of a Jack-O-Lantern.

Finally, I have written out a charter of sorts which will appear at the end of all club journal entries spelling out what passes for rules here. I'm hoping to hear from many of you in the near future, and hoping we'll have lots of submissions both normal and for the contest soon.
